Frequently Asked Questions
What is ScanTrade?
ScanTrade is an AI-powered trade analysis and journaling platform. You upload chart screenshots and our AI gives you instant market structure analysis, key levels, and directional bias. Alongside this, you can log every trade, track performance metrics, and monitor your equity curve over time.
How does the AI chart analysis work?
You upload a chart image (JPG, PNG, or WEBP) and our AI model — powered by ScanTrade AI — analyses the visible price action. It identifies the trend, market structure, key support and resistance levels, chart patterns, and gives you a bullish and bearish scenario. The whole process takes a few seconds.
What information can I log in the trade journal?
You can log as much or as little as you like. The only required fields are your trade direction and entry price. Optionally you can add stop loss, take profit, position size, exit price, strategy, timeframe, emotion, entry reasoning, notes, and a screenshot. R-multiples and P&L are calculated automatically from the values you enter.
What does 'R' mean?
R is a risk-adjusted unit of measure popularised by Van Tharp. 1R is the amount you risked on a trade. If you risked $100 and made $200, that's a +2R trade. Measuring performance in R removes the noise of account size and lets you objectively evaluate your edge regardless of position size.
Is my data private?
Yes. Your trade journal, chart uploads, and performance data are all private to your account. We never sell or share your trading data with third parties. Chart images are stored only to display your analysis history and can be deleted at any time.
Can I export my trades?
Yes. From the Trade Log page you can export all your trades as a CSV file. The export includes every field: symbol, direction, entry, exit, stop loss, take profit, position size, R-multiple, P&L, strategy, timeframe, emotion, notes, and date.
What is the equity curve?
The equity curve shows your cumulative R (or P&L if you switch to currency view) plotted over time across your closed trades. A rising equity curve means you have a consistent edge. A choppy or declining curve can help you identify periods of underperformance or overtrading.
What browsers and devices are supported?
ScanTrade works in any modern browser — Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. The interface is fully responsive and works on desktop, tablet, and mobile, though we recommend a larger screen for the best chart analysis experience.
Is there a free plan?

What chart types and instruments does ScanTrade analyse?
ScanTrade's AI can analyse any chart screenshot — stocks, forex, crypto, indices, commodities, and futures. It works with any charting platform: TradingView, MetaTrader, ThinkorSwim, Webull, or any other tool that lets you take a screenshot. The AI reads visual price action rather than raw data, so the instrument or platform doesn't matter.
What is a confluence score?
The confluence score is a measure of how many independent technical factors align at the same price level or zone on your chart. A high score means the AI has detected multiple signals pointing to the same area — for example, a support level that is also a Fibonacci retracement and a key pattern completion point. High-confluence levels are more likely to produce significant price reactions.
What is SQI (Signal Quality Index)?
The Signal Quality Index is ScanTrade's proprietary measure of overall chart clarity and trade setup quality. It evaluates trend strength, level quality, pattern clarity, and timeframe alignment to give you a single score out of 100. A higher SQI means the chart presents a cleaner, more readable opportunity. It helps you quickly compare the quality of different setups rather than evaluating each factor individually.
What is the Market DNA section?
Market DNA is our AI's classification of the current market condition. It identifies whether the market is trending (up or down), ranging, in a compression phase, or in an expansion phase — and gives you a probability for each state. This helps you choose appropriate strategies, since trending strategies work poorly in ranging markets and vice versa.
Can I attach chart screenshots to my trade journal entries?
Yes. When logging a trade, you can upload the chart screenshot you were looking at when you made the entry. This is one of the most valuable journaling practices: reviewing your actual chart at the time of entry (not the clean hindsight chart) reveals biases and mistakes that memory alone will not surface.
How does the watchlist work?
The watchlist lets you monitor symbols and set price alerts. You can track current price levels, set a target alert price, and add notes for each symbol. accounts can monitor up to symbols; includes symbols, with additional usage subject to credits.
