Building a Watch List of Quality Setups
A curated watchlist of 5–10 high-quality setups beats scanning hundreds of instruments hoping to find something. Here's how to build one.

A watchlist is a pre-filtered set of instruments that you believe are approaching tradeable conditions. It removes the need to make decisions under time pressure by preparing your analysis in advance. Having a clear list of what you're watching and why replaces the reactive 'what should I trade?' with the proactive 'is any of my watchlist triggering today?'
How to Build Your Daily Watchlist
At the end of each session, run your screener for next-day setups. For each result, open the chart and ask: Is there a clear setup forming? Is price approaching a significant level? Is there a catalyst (earnings, data release) that could trigger the move? Add the instrument to your watchlist with a one-sentence note on the setup. Aim for 5–10 instruments maximum. More than this spreads your attention too thin.
Managing Your Watchlist Actively
Review each watchlist item at the start of the session: is the setup still intact, or has overnight action invalidated it? Remove invalidated setups immediately — don't fall in love with trades that have already failed. Add new setups from the screener as they emerge. A healthy watchlist is dynamic: items come and go as market conditions evolve, and you always know exactly why each instrument is there.
